References: Single Men

Two references are required for men who are single: 

  • One from your Pastor testifying you are a member in good standing.
  • One from your employer or someone else in authority in your life.


References need to be updated annually and can be sent to info@sfoi.org.

Men who are single must be upholding the general characteristics listed in the qualifications for a Deacon listed below and have a plan for personal daily Bible study and prayer time. Whoever writes your reference must confirm this in their email or letter.

I Timothy 3:8-10

Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain, but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. These men must also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons if they are beyond reproach.
